Incumbent Democrat Ricardo Samaniego holds a commanding lead in the 2026 El Paso County Judge race, reflecting his strong position in a county with consistent Democratic voting patterns. He advanced unopposed through the March primary and seeks a third term after prior victories, including a 68% margin in 2022. The Republican nominee, Minerva Torres Shelton, a former law enforcement officer who won her party's primary, faces structural headwinds in this environment. Recent activity, such as Samaniego's July endorsement in a U.S. Senate contest, has not altered the core dynamics. Trader consensus prices the outcome heavily toward the incumbent, though late developments like turnout shifts or unforeseen controversies within the roughly 11-week window to the November 3 general election could still influence final results.
