Lula da Silva maintains a commanding lead in trader consensus for first place in Rio Grande do Norte’s October 4 first round, consistent with his status as incumbent PT president seeking re-election and the state’s traditional alignment with his party’s northeastern base. Recent party conventions, candidate registrations by the August 15 deadline, and the official campaign launch on August 16 have clarified the field, with national polls showing Lula in the high 30s to low 40s percent range ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro and a fragmented opposition including Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and Renan Santos. Lula’s running mate Geraldo Alckmin and local PT ties, including Governor Fátima Bezerra, reinforce positioning, while limited recent state-specific shifts leave lower-polling names with minimal implied support in the market.
