Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Kaohsiung as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Lai Jui-lung holds an 80% implied probability as the Democratic Progressive Party nominee for the November 2026 Kaohsiung mayoral election, following his January 2026 primary victory over rivals including Chiu Yi-ying, Hsu Chih-chieh, and Lin Tai-hua. Multiple mid-2026 surveys show him leading Kuomintang nominee Ko Chih-en by double-digit margins across districts and demographics, consistent with Kaohsiung's recent voting patterns favoring DPP candidates. Ko, who previously contested the seat in 2022, trails at around 12% amid limited recent polling gains. President William Lai's public endorsements and warnings about external interference have reinforced party cohesion, while the absence of major scandals or shifts in voter turnout indicators has sustained trader consensus around the DPP frontrunner ahead of the late-November vote.
