National Weather Service and NOAA Climate Prediction Center guidance for early September 2026 points to above-normal temperatures persisting across central Texas, with model consensus favoring daily highs in the mid-90s for Austin on September 5. This aligns with historical normals of 93–94°F for the date at Camp Mabry, tempered by a lingering warm pattern from a strong summer heat dome and delayed seasonal cooling. Key variables include high-pressure subsidence limiting cloud cover and Gulf moisture moderating overnight lows, while any weak frontal passage or increased convection could trim peaks by a degree or two. Trader emphasis on the 94–97°F range reflects these conditions, with lower odds on extremes due to the narrow 48-hour forecast window and typical model skill at this range. Updated NWS guidance and ensemble runs remain the primary near-term catalysts.
