Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance indicates a moderating trend for Chicago on September 3 after consecutive days of low-90s readings driven by southwest flow and high dew points. Scattered thunderstorms and a possible weak frontal passage introduce the main uncertainty, with lake-breeze effects likely capping inland highs in the upper 80s while suppressing peaks near the shoreline. Historical climatology shows an 80°F average high for the date, yet the current pattern supports values several degrees above normal absent widespread convection. Ensemble spread in forecast maximum temperatures explains the tightly clustered market-implied odds across the 84–93°F bins, with resolution hinging on official observations at Chicago Midway or O’Hare.
