Forecast consensus from official and private models positions Chicago's September 14 high in the low to mid-70s, driven by a cooler-than-average air mass with southeast winds and increasing cloud cover that limits daytime heating. This aligns with the market's strong preference for 72-73°F at 58% implied probability, well below the 1991-2020 average high of 76.7°F. Recent model runs show minimal spread, with only modest upside risk from clearer skies or slight warming, keeping 74-75°F at 17.5% and 70-71°F at 16%. Traders appear to weigh the stable, evidence-based guidance over historical norms or longer-range variability.
