Republican incumbent Jeff Van Drew, a former Democrat who switched parties, holds a strong position in New Jersey’s 2nd congressional district heading into the November 2026 general election. Forecasters rate the seat Solid or Likely Republican based on its South Jersey voter base, consistent GOP performance in recent cycles, and Van Drew’s established incumbency advantages. He ran unopposed in the June 2 Republican primary, while Democrat Zack Mullock emerged from a crowded field as the nominee. Limited polling shows Van Drew ahead by double digits, and the district’s registration edge plus historical turnout patterns favor the Republican nominee. With no major late-breaking developments or competitive challengers surfacing since the primaries, trader consensus assigns the Republican outcome an 81.5% implied probability, reflecting the seat’s structural lean and the absence of factors that typically shift such races closer.
