Persistent high pressure and clear skies over central Texas enabled strong solar heating and subsidence warming on August 27, driving afternoon temperatures to a verified peak of 102–103°F at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and nearby NWS stations. This aligned with late-August climatology, where average highs near 95°F are routinely exceeded during dry spells, and followed several days of 102–107°F readings amid minimal cloud cover and low precipitation. Official observations confirmed the range before any post-analysis adjustments, supporting the market’s near-certain consensus. Only a major station-specific revision or unreported instrumentation issue could realistically alter the outcome.
