Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus point to mostly cloudy skies over Los Angeles on August 27 amid an ongoing extreme heat warning, with daytime highs expected in the low-to-mid 90s at inland and downtown stations but closer to the mid-80s at coastal sites like LAX due to marine-layer influence and afternoon sea breezes. These conditions, combined with lighter winds and partial cloud cover that reduce surface heating, explain why market-implied probabilities concentrate on the 84–87°F range rather than higher outcomes. Coastal Southern California climatology shows that such marine moderation frequently limits daily maxima even during regional heat events, while any earlier clearing or stronger offshore flow could push readings toward the upper 80s. Updated NWS briefings and next model runs tomorrow morning will provide the final guidance ahead of resolution.
