Alibaba's recent earnings report highlighted surging demand for its Qwen models and AI cloud services, which now account for a substantial share of external revenue, reinforcing trader views of its ecosystem integration and open-source adoption as key advantages heading into late May. Baidu has countered with its Create 2026 event unveiling general-purpose and coding agents, alongside ongoing ERNIE refinements, sustaining its strong position through search and multimodal capabilities. These developments, combined with broader competition from Z.ai and others in the Chatbot Arena rankings, have shaped the current implied probabilities, with Alibaba edging ahead amid heavy domestic investment in chips and infrastructure. Upcoming leaderboard updates could still shift momentum before month-end resolution.
