Official National Weather Service forecasts for Houston on September 17 call for a high near 92°F under partly sunny skies with a 40-50% chance of afternoon thunderstorms, consistent with the market's leading 90-93°F outcomes. Persistent late-summer heat and humidity across the region, following several days of mid- to upper-90s readings, provide the baseline for these levels, while increased cloud cover, easterly winds, and potential convective activity introduce variability that could cap the daily maximum. Model consensus from NOAA emphasizes this balance between seasonal subtropical patterns and short-term moisture influences, with heat indices exceeding 105°F underscoring the underlying warmth even if storms moderate peak air temperatures.
