Recent forecasts from MetService-aligned models and international sources indicate Wellington's overnight minimum on September 13 will likely fall between 5–7 °C under a southerly wind shift that replaces milder northerlies with cooler maritime air. Radiative cooling under partly cloudy skies and light winds near dawn supports the potential for readings at or below 6 °C, consistent with September climatology yet sensitive to exact timing of the front and cloud cover. Trader positioning around 4 °C or below reflects model spread and the possibility of stronger cooling if winds ease further, while the cluster near 7 °C captures the central forecast range. Fresh model runs and official MetService briefings expected overnight will provide the next key data points for resolution.
