Recent National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model runs point to a daily high near 81°F for Chicago on September 15, supporting the market's leading 80-81°F bin at 35.5% implied probability. Southwesterly flow ahead of an approaching front is advecting warmer, more humid air, while increasing cloud cover and a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms could suppress peak temperatures by limiting solar heating. Forecasters note modest uncertainty in exact maximums depending on storm timing and coverage, with some guidance favoring mid-80s if clearing occurs earlier. Historical September averages near 76°F provide context, but current conditions favor above-normal readings. Updated NWS briefings and afternoon model runs will likely refine the outlook before resolution.
