Recent National Weather Service and ensemble forecasts indicate a high near 70–72°F for Chicago on September 16, driven by a cooler northeast flow, widespread cloud cover, and periods of showers that limit daytime heating. This setup follows a warmer Tuesday and aligns with model consensus showing suppressed maxima below the late-summer climatological average of 76°F. Trader emphasis on the 72–73°F bin reflects the narrow range of guidance outputs, while lower-probability warmer bins account for any clearing that could allow brief additional warming before resolution. Updated NWS briefings and hourly model runs through the overnight period remain the key near-term catalysts.
