The 2026 Quebec general election campaign, launched August 27 with voting set for October 5, has turned Montarville into a tight contest between incumbent CAQ MNA and National Assembly president Nathalie Roy and PQ challenger Jean-François Cloutier. Recent projections from 338Canada and Qc125 show the riding as a near toss-up, with CAQ and PQ each holding roughly 30-39% support amid province-wide volatility following leadership changes in the governing party. Roy benefits from incumbency and name recognition in the South Shore suburban riding, while Cloutier's August entry as a prominent investigative journalist has boosted PQ visibility on sovereignty and governance issues. Lower-polling Liberal and Québec solidaire candidates add fragmentation without clear momentum. Trader pricing reflects this balance, with separation likely hinging on early campaign polling trends, candidate debates, or turnout shifts among francophone voters before the September 17 nomination deadline.
