The crowded field of 20 registered candidates for Piauí’s two Senate seats has kept the contest for first place highly fragmented, with no single contender establishing clear dominance ahead of the October 4 first-round vote. Recent polls show Marcelo Castro (MDB) and Ciro Nogueira (PP) holding modest leads over Júlio César (PSD), Tiago Junqueira (PL), and a long tail of lower-polling names, yet large shares of undecided and blank/null voters continue to compress separation. The just-completed candidate registration window and ongoing party conventions have locked in the ballot but introduced limited new momentum for any individual. Trader consensus reflected in current prices underscores the uncertainty, as modest shifts in turnout among key regional blocs or late campaign alliances could quickly reorder the top positions before election day.
