Israel's formal recognition of Somaliland as a sovereign state on December 26, 2025—the first by any UN member—has not prompted follow-on actions from other nations in the five months since, sustaining trader consensus at 74.5% odds against another country extending diplomatic recognition by June 30. Recent unconfirmed reports of UAE lobbying Eswatini, Argentina, Zambia, and the Dominican Republic for recognition, alongside speculation about Morocco, have failed to materialize amid strong pushback from Somalia affirming its territorial integrity, the African Union, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Arab League. With no scheduled diplomatic summits or breakthroughs in the past 30 days, geopolitical sensitivities in the Horn of Africa continue to constrain momentum for Somaliland's broader quest for international legitimacy.
