Strong international consensus against additional recognition stems from broad support for Somalia's territorial integrity, voiced by the African Union, Arab League, European Union, and neighboring states including Djibouti, Egypt, and Turkey after Israel's December 2025 recognition of Somaliland. No other UN member has followed suit in the subsequent months amid concerns over regional stability and precedent for secession in the Horn of Africa. With only days remaining before the June 30 deadline and no reported diplomatic breakthroughs or scheduled announcements, traders assign near-certain odds to no further recognitions. A late surprise move by a major power remains theoretically possible but would contradict established positions and face immediate multilateral pushback.
