Chang Chia-chun leads the Yunlin County Magistrate race as the Kuomintang nominee, backed by the influential local Chang family with deep roots in county politics, while Liu Chien-kuo serves as the Democratic Progressive Party candidate. The November 28, 2026, local elections feature this matchup in a county where established family networks and party machinery often shape outcomes. KMT candidate announcements in early 2026 and subsequent party rallies reinforced organizational support for Chang, contributing to the wide gap in trader pricing. Liu's nomination occurred later in the cycle, with limited recent polling or campaign momentum shifting the implied probabilities. Structural factors such as incumbency patterns and voter turnout in rural counties continue to anchor current consensus around these frontrunners ahead of the vote.
