Flávio Bolsonaro holds an overwhelming lead in trader consensus for second place in Brazil’s October 4 first-round presidential vote because recent polling consistently places him well ahead of other opposition figures while incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva maintains a first-place lead near 40 percent. Jair Bolsonaro’s ineligibility has consolidated right-wing support behind his son and Liberal Party nominee, despite earlier setbacks from leaked audio recordings and family tensions that briefly dented his numbers. Fragmented challengers such as Renan Santos and Ronaldo Caiado register single-digit support in surveys and lack comparable national name recognition or party infrastructure. Lula’s incumbency and efforts to broaden centrist backing reinforce expectations that the race will feature these two as the top finishers, with the first-round outcome hinging on turnout among independent and right-leaning voters in the remaining campaign weeks.
