The entry of Parti Socialiste first secretary Olivier Faure as a candidate has narrowed expectations around Raphaël Glucksmann of Place Publique and created a competitive field that also includes Jérôme Guedj, Philippe Brun, Emmanuel Maurel, and Ségolène Royal. Formal declarations close on 15 September, with parrainage thresholds still to be cleared ahead of the electronic first-round vote on 9-10 October. Internal debates over the scope of participation, including potential inclusion of figures such as François Ruffin, and the structure of televised debates have added friction without yet producing a clear frontrunner. These overlapping candidacies and procedural questions sustain tight trader pricing among the leading options while leaving room for late shifts in endorsements or turnout among party members and sympathizers.
