If NOAA data is unavailable or missing for the observation period, Weather Underground will be used as the secondary resolution source. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered. The dominant 99.5% market-implied probability for a 72–73°F overnight low in Atlanta on August 26 stems from official observations at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport aligning with late-summer climatology, where the 1991–2020 average low is 70.1°F and recent years have clustered in the low 70s. Persistent southerly flow and high dew points maintained mild conditions without significant radiational cooling or cold-air advection, keeping temperatures well above historical extremes like the 58°F record from 1942. Model consensus from NOAA and NHC guidance prior to the date reinforced this narrow range, with traders assigning near-certainty once preliminary data confirmed no departures. A realistic challenge would require verified station revisions or localized urban heat-island effects pushing the reading into adjacent bins, though such adjustments are rare after initial NWS quality control.
