Romania's political deadlock following the May 2026 no-confidence ouster of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has driven the 66.8% "No" probability. President Nicușor Dan's June attempts to install a technocrat—first nominating independent MEP Eugen Tomac to form a neutral cabinet, then Adrian Vestea after Tomac withdrew—failed to secure parliamentary backing from major parties including the PNL, PSD, and others. Persistent coalition negotiations, summer recess, and pressure over EU recovery funds have reinforced party preferences for partisan candidates over non-aligned experts. Traders view these repeated rejections and institutional requirements for majority support as significant barriers to a technocratic outcome.

To count for resolution, the Prime Minister must be both formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister is confirmed by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No.”
The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania and a consensus of credible reporting.
