With leading contenders clustered between 43% and 50% implied probability, trader sentiment underscores the unusually wide-open field for the 99th Academy Awards’ Best International Feature Film eight months before submissions close. No countries have yet announced their official entries, leaving probabilities anchored in early critical reception, festival premieres, and historical patterns rather than confirmed campaigns. Films such as Fjord and Fatherland sit slightly ahead on the strength of strong reviews and director pedigrees, while lower odds for titles like Hope or Rose reflect limited visibility so far. The race will sharpen once Venice, Toronto, and other fall festivals screen potential submissions and nations finalize selections in September and October.
