**Z.ai (Zhipu AI) leads trader sentiment as the second-best Chinese AI company at end-September due to its consistent frontier-level performance with GLM-5.3, strong open-weights releases, and enterprise traction.** Recent benchmarks position Moonshot’s Kimi K3 as the current leader among Chinese large language models, followed closely by Alibaba’s Qwen3.8 Max, with Z.ai’s GLM series delivering competitive coding, agent, and long-context results at lower cost than many peers. Z.ai’s January 2026 Hong Kong listing, rapid revenue growth, and focus on domestic hardware compatibility have boosted visibility and capital access. Moonshot’s July Kimi K3 launch and Alibaba’s broad ecosystem downloads create the main competition, while cost leaders like DeepSeek and others trail on overall capability metrics. Traders appear to view Z.ai’s momentum and public-market signals as the clearest path to second place amid rapid open-weights competition.

Results from the "Lab Rank" column under the "Text Arena | Overall" Leaderboard tab at https://arena.ai/leaderboard/text/overall-no-style-control?rankBy=labs with style control off (Adjustments: None) and filtered for "Labs" will be used to resolve this market.
Qualifying Chinese AI companies will be ordered primarily by their Lab Rank at the market’s check time. If the results based on the lab ranking are ambiguous or unavailable, the relevant qualifying Chinese AI companies will be ordered according to their highest-ranking AI model in the leaderboard’s “Models” view. If two or more models are tied on rank, they will be ordered by their Arena score, including any underlying, unrounded, granular values reflected in the data below the leaderboard. If a tie still remains, alphabetical order of AI company names as listed in this market group will be used as a final tiebreaker (e.g., if the two models are tied by exact arena score, “Meituan” would be ranked ahead of “Xiaomi”). This market will resolve based on the company that occupies second place under this ranking.
