Incumbent Republican Chris Hill secured his party's nomination in the March 2026 primary with roughly 78 percent of the vote against challenger Rick Grady, positioning him as the clear frontrunner in the November 3 general election against Democratic nominee John R. "Buster" Brown. Collin County's consistent Republican majorities in recent cycles and the structural advantages of incumbency in local races underpin the current trader consensus around Hill's elevated probability. Brown advanced unopposed in the Democratic primary, yet faces the same partisan headwinds that have limited Democratic performance in countywide contests. No major late-breaking developments have altered the race in the past month, leaving the outcome dependent on standard turnout patterns and any last-minute shifts in voter mobilization ahead of Election Day.
