Recent polls from August 2026 show incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leading first-round voting intentions at 39-42%, followed by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) at 32-35%, with all other declared candidates—including Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Renan Santos (Missão), and Romeu Zema (Novo)—remaining in low single digits. Flávio Bolsonaro secured his party's nomination in late July and launched his campaign in mid-August, consolidating much of the right-wing vote previously aligned with his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who remains ineligible. Lula's modest lead in simulated runoffs and steady approval ratings near 47% reinforce expectations of a two-candidate runoff on October 25. With the October 4 first round approaching and no polling surge evident for alternative contenders, trader consensus heavily favors Flávio Bolsonaro as the clear second-place finisher.
