The closely matched trader consensus around Mathieu Rivest of the Coalition Avenir Québec and Valérie Hamel of the Parti Québécois reflects a competitive three-way dynamic in this Bas-Saint-Laurent riding ahead of the October 5, 2026, vote. Rivest, the incumbent seeking a second term, benefits from established name recognition, while Hamel, a nurse practitioner who moved into the area in 2019 and was confirmed as the PQ nominee in early August, emphasizes local health-care access and decentralization. Frédéric Poulin of the Parti conservateur du Québec remains a factor given the party's prior showing in the riding, and Nancy St-Pierre of the Parti libéral du Québec trails. Provincial polling volatility, with the CAQ facing pressure and the PQ gaining ground in francophone regions, keeps the outcome sensitive to campaign developments through nomination close and advance voting.
