The tight race in Saint-François between Parti Québécois candidate Sylvie Tanguay and incumbent Coalition Avenir Québec MNA Geneviève Hébert stems from the riding's competitive dynamics ahead of the October 5 provincial election. Recent projections from 338Canada and Qc125 place the PQ narrowly ahead in popular vote estimates for the district, consistent with the party's provincial polling lead, while Hébert benefits from incumbency and local name recognition as she seeks a third term. Key factors sustaining the closeness include voter focus on health care, immigration targets for temporary foreign workers in the Coaticook area, and broader economic pressures, alongside strong showings by Liberal Jacqueline Belleau and Québec solidaire's Mia Fréchette. Further separation could emerge from the final weeks of campaigning, candidate debates, or shifts in provincial momentum before nominations close on September 17.
