Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a stable air mass with light northwest winds shifting northeast over Chicago on August 25, supporting daytime highs near or slightly below the late-August climatological average of about 81–82°F at official observation sites. Lake Michigan moderation is expected to temper peaks along the shoreline while urban heat island effects allow slightly warmer readings inland, aligning with the market-implied concentration around 80–81°F. Traders are weighting these factors against minor model spreads on cloud cover and any weak frontal passage, with resolution based on official maximum temperature records rather than forecasts.
