**Persistent warm, humid air under southwest flow is supporting overnight lows in the mid-70s for Chicago on August 31.** Official National Weather Service guidance and multiple forecast models show partly cloudy to partly sunny conditions with continued southerly winds, limiting radiational cooling and keeping minimum temperatures elevated well above the late-August climatological average of ~64°F. Dew points in the mid-to-upper 60s combined with the warm advection from a passing warm front have produced the current consensus around 74–77°F. Traders are weighting the tightly bunched 74–77°F outcomes most heavily because ensemble spreads remain modest and no significant frontal passage or increased cloud cover is expected to alter the thermal profile before resolution. Historical precedent for such warm August lows is limited, reinforcing the market’s focus on the narrow range implied by current model agreement.
