This market will resolve according to the winner of the Republican Primary for Governor of Vermont, scheduled to take place on August 11, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Vermont Gubernatorial Republican Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Vermont Republican Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Incumbent Phil Scott's filing on May 28 to seek a sixth two-year term has anchored trader consensus in the Vermont Republican primary for governor, scheduled for August 11. As the state's longest-serving recent Republican executive with consistent cross-aisle appeal in a heavily Democratic-leaning electorate, Scott faces no filed challengers following the deadline, leaving little room for primary competition. John Rodgers, the current lieutenant governor running for re-election in that separate race, registers negligible support in the governor market. This positioning aligns with historical patterns of low primary volatility for popular incumbents. A realistic shift would require Scott's withdrawal due to unforeseen health or personal developments before the primary, though the closed filing window limits other pathways for alternative candidates to emerge.
