If the results of this election are not definitively known by December 31, 2026, this market will resolve to “Other.” This market will resolve based on the results of the primary election for Governor of California as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.Xavier Becerra leads Santa Clara County primary vote tallies with strong backing from establishment Democrats, reflecting his post-Swalwell surge in Bay Area support and statewide polling gains to around 23-28 percent ahead of the June 2 top-two contest. Local results show him ahead by several points in the county, consistent with Democratic voter preferences in this urban stronghold over rivals like Tom Steyer, whose self-funded campaign has narrowed the gap but trails in early returns. Other contenders including Tony Thurmond, Katie Porter, and Matt Mahan remain fragmented with minimal traction, while Republican options such as Steve Hilton draw limited cross-party support locally. Ongoing ballot processing and historical patterns in Santa Clara favor the current frontrunner as certification approaches.
