Following Slovenia's March 2026 parliamentary elections, where Prime Minister Robert Golob's Freedom Movement narrowly led but failed to secure a coalition by April 20, trader consensus has solidified around Janez Janša of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) at 92% implied probability for next prime minister. President Nataša Pirc Musar tasked lawmakers on April 25 to nominate a viable candidate amid stalled talks, propelling Janša's center-right negotiations with the Democratic Party (Demokrati) and the NSi–SLS–Fokus alliance, which reached 95% agreement completion as of May 12. This momentum, reflecting SDS's strong post-election positioning and cross-party support for a majority in the 90-seat National Assembly, drives the commanding odds. Realistic challenges include final negotiation breakdowns, a failed confidence vote, presidential rejection, or deadlock triggering snap elections.
