Incumbent Governor Peter Mbah’s defection from the PDP to the APC and subsequent selection as the APC’s 2027 nominee have centered trader attention on his infrastructure record, security initiatives, and cross-zonal endorsements, while PDP candidate Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji’s primary victory positions the opposition as the main alternative. Multiple minor-party aspirants, including Dona Nwogbo and James Ene Nwannaji, plus ongoing INEC candidate submissions and legal clarifications around parties such as the ADC, sustain fragmentation. Recent polls showing PDP support near 52 percent alongside Mbah’s approval gains keep the contest tight, with outcomes likely to hinge on turnout patterns, further defections, and any late primary or court developments before the 2027 vote.
