Israeli airstrikes and evacuation orders have repeatedly targeted Tyre and surrounding areas in southern Lebanon since the March 2026 escalation with Hezbollah, including a major June strike and more recent August incidents amid ongoing low-level violations. Israeli ground operations have focused on establishing a security buffer near the border, with occupation of select villages and controlled demolitions, but no confirmed entry into Tyre itself. U.S.-brokered talks in Rome seek conditional withdrawal tied to Hezbollah disarmament and pilot zones, though Defense Minister statements signal intent for longer-term presence. These diplomatic efforts, combined with persistent cross-border incidents and Hezbollah responses, shape trader views on the timing and likelihood of deeper ground advances into the city.
