Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and other models indicate Austin highs near 96–100°F on September 17 amid a late-summer heat pattern, with warm southeasterly flow, high pressure, and mostly clear to partly cloudy skies limiting cooling. Afternoon instability raises only a 20% rain chance that may not substantially cap temperatures, while heat indices near 104°F reflect elevated humidity. Trader emphasis on 98–99°F and 96–97°F bins reflects model consensus around these values versus historical September averages near 91°F and recent days exceeding 98°F. Updated model runs and real-time observations will refine resolution as the day progresses.
