Recent polling aggregates project the CAQ around 22-23 percent support heading into the October 5 election, placing it in a competitive but diminished position after nearly eight years in government. Leadership transition to Christine Fréchette, combined with voter fatigue and scrutiny over spending overruns in health IT projects and other files, has contributed to the shift, with the party trailing the PQ and facing challenges in vote efficiency across fragmented ridings. Close contests between the CAQ and PQ in multiple districts, alongside regional variations and the short campaign window, sustain uncertainty in seat outcomes. Additional leaders’ debates and any late shifts in francophone or suburban support could alter final distributions before polls close.
