Recent National Weather Service and NOAA model consensus points to a Houston high temperature on September 17 near the upper 80s to low 90s, with ensemble spreads creating the close contest between the 88-89°F and 90-91°F outcomes. Subtle differences in afternoon convective cloud cover, boundary-layer mixing, and the strength of a subtropical ridge are driving forecast uncertainty, while light winds and moderate humidity levels limit extreme heating. Updated short-range guidance shows limited run-to-run variability, keeping lower and higher bins at single-digit implied probabilities. Traders will watch the next model cycle and official forecast discussion for any shifts in maximum temperature guidance before resolution.
