**Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and private models indicate overnight lows in the low-to-mid 70s for Chicago on September 4, driven by a lingering warm, humid air mass with dew points near 70°F that limits radiational cooling.** Persistent southwesterly flow, possible evening thunderstorms, and partial cloud cover further suppress temperature drops, while Lake Michigan’s moderating influence keeps lakeside readings from falling as sharply as inland areas. Historical September 4 lows average around 63°F, making the projected values well above normal and explaining trader emphasis on bins above 70°F. Model consensus remains tight on minimal overnight cooling, though slight variations in storm timing or wind shifts could nudge the official low a degree or two in either direction before the 24-hour observation window closes.
