Recent NWS and model guidance points to overnight lows of 68–71°F in New York City on August 27 as a warm, humid southerly flow ahead of a frontal system maintains elevated minimum temperatures through widespread cloud cover, showers, and thunderstorms. South winds of 10–15 mph with gusts to 25 mph limit radiational cooling, while high dew points near 65–70°F add thermal inertia; historical August normals for Central Park lows near 67°F provide context, but the current pattern favors the upper end. Closely matched 68–69°F and 70–71°F outcomes reflect minor model differences in timing of heaviest rain and post-storm clearing, with new forecast updates expected to narrow the range before resolution.
