Israeli forces have conducted extensive airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs since early 2026 but have not launched a ground incursion into the capital itself. Operations remain concentrated in southern Lebanon, where the IDF controls buffer zones established after the March 2026 ground offensive and has engaged in phased withdrawals from designated pilot areas under a U.S.-mediated framework. Recent weeks have seen intensified Israeli airstrikes in the south following Hezbollah attacks that wounded IDF personnel, alongside ongoing diplomatic rounds aimed at Lebanese Army deployment and reduced hostilities. Trader assessments reflect these geographic and diplomatic constraints, with sentiment shaped by the risk of escalation from border incidents or stalled talks versus the structural barriers to a northward advance toward Beirut.
