Israeli military operations in the 2026 Lebanon conflict have remained concentrated in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework took shape in April, with forces establishing buffer zones several kilometers inside the border. Recent July talks advanced a pilot program for Lebanese Army units to assume control of select southern areas from Israeli positions, though incidents of cross-fire near deployment zones have raised implementation risks. Airstrikes have periodically targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut's southern suburbs, but no verified ground incursions toward the capital have occurred in the past several months. Trader sentiment reflects these constraints alongside diplomatic momentum for de-escalation, Hezbollah's retained presence in urban centers, and statements from Israeli commanders indicating readiness for deeper advances only under specific orders. Scheduled follow-on negotiations and any escalation in border exchanges could shift assessments of timelines for potential movement on Beirut.
