Recent leadership transitions have reshaped the contest: Christine Fréchette assumed the Coalition Avenir Québec helm and premiership in April 2026, producing modest polling gains that have narrowed the gap with the third-place party, while Charles Milliard took the Quebec Liberal leadership in February and has positioned his party as the main federalist alternative, keeping it within a few points of the PQ in multiple surveys. A public dispute in mid-June over Plamondon's remarks linking Liberals to organized crime prompted legal threats from Milliard, underscoring the campaign's sharpening tone. Other listed candidates trail far behind amid these dynamics.
