Mike Johnson, the Republican incumbent and current Speaker of the House, anchors the commanding position in Louisiana's 4th congressional district. The northwestern Louisiana seat covering the Shreveport-Bossier City area has delivered consistent Republican margins exceeding 80 percent in recent cycles, reinforced by voter registration advantages and district lines. Recent qualifying filings through early August 2026 introduced Democratic challengers including vegetable farmer Conrad Cable, yet forecasters rate the contest Safe or Solid Republican with no competitive polling shifts. The jungle primary scheduled for November 3, 2026, and any potential December runoff further favor the incumbent under Louisiana's majority-vote system. Trader consensus aligns with these structural factors while leaving room for low-probability disruptions such as an unforeseen scandal, health event, or national political realignment that could alter turnout or candidate viability before Election Day.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
