Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Trader consensus on the 72-73°F bin edging the 70-71°F outcome reflects typical late-August uncertainty in San Francisco’s coastal microclimate. Persistent marine layer haze and moderate onshore westerlies at 10-20 mph from the Pacific are limiting daytime heating, consistent with National Weather Service guidance projecting highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Subtle differences in marine layer burn-off timing, cloud cover, and wind strength can shift the daily maximum by 2-3°F; weaker onshore flow or earlier clearing favors the higher bin, while stronger winds or lingering fog anchor readings nearer 70°F. Historical August averages near 69°F and low precipitation probability reinforce the narrow spread between these leading outcomes.
