Incumbent Prime Minister Robert Abela commands overwhelming trader consensus at 91.5% implied probability to remain Malta's next leader following the snap general election on May 30, driven by recent opinion polls showing Labour Party leads of 13-14 points over Nationalist leader Alex Borg, including Vincent Marmara's survey with Abela preferred by 46% versus 32% for Borg. Abela called the early vote on April 27 amid geopolitical energy cost pressures, seeking a fresh mandate for stability, bolstering his incumbency advantage in the single transferable vote system for the House of Representatives. While minor candidates trail, a late scandal, opposition surge in undecided voters, or low turnout could narrow the gap in this closely watched contest.
