The state GOP then formally designated him as its nominee at the February 2026 convention, and the June 23 primary was subsequently canceled, leaving only minor candidates on the ballot. These developments consolidated party support behind the Nassau County executive and eliminated any competitive path for challengers. Trader consensus reflected in the current odds could shift only if unexpected developments such as a late legal challenge to the nomination or a major scandal alter the outcome before ballots close.
