Strong El Niño conditions, with Niño-3.4 anomalies recently exceeding +1.5°C and forecasts for further strengthening, are elevating temperatures across Southeast Asia during the Southwest Monsoon, driving trader consensus toward a 34°C high in Kuala Lumpur on September 5. Historical September mean daily maxima near 32.7°C, with frequent afternoon peaks of 33–34°C under partly cloudy skies and lower rainfall, align with this implied probability, while the 28.5% chance for 35°C reflects potential for brief intensification from reduced cloud cover or urban heat effects. Official Malaysian Meteorological Department outlooks note drier conditions and above-normal warmth through the period, though daily model runs retain uncertainty from localized convection or haze influences that could cap or boost the peak.
