Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Kagawa on August 30, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Kagawa gubernatorial elections. Any interim or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If no candidate reaches the legally required number of votes to win the election, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Kagawa and Japan, including the Kagawa Prefecture Election Management Committee (https://www.pref.kagawa.lg.jp/senkyoi/index.html).Toyohito Ikeda secured a commanding position in the Kagawa gubernatorial election through broad cross-party endorsements from the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, the Democratic Party for the People, and additional centrist groups, combined with his record as incumbent emphasizing enterprise attraction, child-rearing support, and tourism infrastructure such as the new prefectural arena. This unified backing from ruling and opposition parties consolidated voter support in a prefectural race with a fragmented field of three independent challengers, including one backed solely by the Japanese Communist Party. Traders priced the outcome near certainty ahead of the August 30 vote as these structural advantages and the absence of major late disruptions left little room for upset, though an unforeseen scandal, health event, or sudden shift in turnout among key blocs could still have altered the result in principle.
