This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.President Nicușor Dan's ongoing consultations with parliamentary parties following Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's ouster in a May 5 no-confidence vote have fueled trader consensus around technocratic candidates like Șerban Matei and Radu Burnete, both hovering near 60% implied probabilities amid reports of their consideration for nomination. The pro-EU coalition's collapse over austerity measures—tax hikes and spending cuts to meet EU deficit targets—left no clear majority, prompting deadlock in coalition negotiations and elevating non-partisan figures with economic credentials and cross-party backing, such as presidential adviser Burnete and central banker Matei. A formal presidential designation expected next week, followed by a parliamentary confidence vote, could separate frontrunners, while failure risks snap elections favoring hard-right AUR.
